netc group leader bruce horn"In June 2009 I took a group of 23 students to Germany on NETC's Hanseatic Travels. This was my fifth time traveling with students, but my first time with NETC. I can only say that I'm sorry it took so long for me to discover the superior company for Educational Student Tours. I chose NETC on the recommendation of a fellow language teacher at my school who has always toured with NETC; now I know why!

"Though I've been to Germany several times, this was my first trip to Berlin. Suffice it to say it was worth it. The kids and I loved being on the roof of the Reichstag. The Pergamon Museum was an eye-popper! Our escapade through the KaDeWe was also great. In addition, we had plenty of opportunity to shop, to look around, and just to hang out and experience the culture.

"Our guide was a real pro. She had daily activities for the kids to do as well as things to do when we were on the bus. I must admit that I had my doubts about the planned, "educational" activities. Based on prior experience I feared that the kids would be in 'vacation mode' and uninterested. I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case.

"The Debate the Great LEAP! activity was a lot of fun, and the kids were very involved. As a German teacher I must admit, however, that I was a little embarrassed when my students concluded that the greatest German of all time was Dirk Novitski, who was not one of NETC's suggested Germans.

"I think, however, that the most significant moments for the kids were the Holocaust Memorial and the Wilhelms Gedachtniskirche. These two monuments, though somber, brought home some serious and relevant history to my students. Our guide was perceptive enough to not tell the kids what to think. Rather she invited them afterwards to share their reflections. It was meaningful and poignant for all of us.

"I cannot say enough positive things about our tour guide. She was not only knowledgeable and spunky, but she was tuned in to the kids at the appropriate level to keep them active and interested in anything and everything we did. The "specialist" guides we had in each city were also well-informed and of the highest quality.

"My own personal favorite event was having a Currywurst under the Brandenburg Gate.  That was for me the fulfillment of a dream.

"This was simply the best trip I've ever taken with students. The thoroughness and organization on the part of the NETC team was a significant part of what made the experience so good. From the time we initially chose NETC, through all of our pre-trip meetings, while we were in Germany, and right up until we boarded the plane to come home, the professionalism and savvy of the NETC folks were an invaluable asset.

"All of our accommodations were excellent. The provided meals were diverse so as to represent the varied aspects of German culture. Our transportation was wonderful: a shiny new bus with excellent drivers.

"I will recommend NETC without reservation to my colleagues, and the next time I take students to Germany it will definitely be with NETC.

"To paraphrase the immortal Mr. T: 'I pity the poor fool who doesn't travel with NETC'."
