"Meetings = comfort and questions answered. I hold meetings with food from one of the countries we are traveling to. Students are encouraged to research a recipe to make and bring to a meeting. This is a good way to encourage students to start realizing the area(s) that they will be traveling and customs they will be experiencing. At the meeting we discuss topics such as, what and how to pack, secrets of streamlining outfits with accessories, the benefit of the five-mile shoes (anything that won’t get you five miles of walking comfort will get no sympathy from fellow travelers). Letting them know that shampoo, hygiene products, and pain relievers are available all over Europe. Credit cards and ATMs are also covered at meetings - How to go about informing your bank, using an ATM in a foreign country, and basic dos and don’ts of money exchanging. Parents of high school travelers should attend these meetings for their own knowledge and peace of mind. Pre-established credit card amounts are easy to get and monitor from home."

- Brooks Kyler-Eberlein, Instructor and Interior Design Club Advisor, WI
