Here’s a fun tip for anyone planning an educational travel program with their students:
“During the months prior to departure I create a ‘web quest’, which is an online scavenger hunt, for each meeting. I email the questions to the participants and they search online for the answers. They bring their answer sheet to the meeting and while I go over the information and project images of the places and answers, my colleague checks their answer sheets.
At the end, the person(s) with correct answers can choose from an assortment of travel prizes. My prizes include scrap-booking supplies, travel pillows, travel bags, converters, foods from the countries to be visited (truffles, Nutella, etc.), home decor that goes along with our trip (like a mini Eiffel Tower)...even euros!
It is a great way to generate enthusiasm and inspire the students to read about the places that they will be visiting, and it helps them to get the most out of the experience! Plus, it’s just fun!”
