Des Maguire and sons at at Camp Lejeune, December 2010

My son was recently deployed to Afghanistan with the US Marines. While at Camp Lejeune to see him off, I was struck by how many children were there to say goodbye to a parent. I could only imagine the hardship those families would suffer in the coming months.

I have no doubt that there are many children who are unable to benefit from an NETC program because of their parent’s service. In an effort to remedy this, NETC is offering a $1000 scholarship for students who travel with NETC in 2012, who have a parent on active military duty abroad.
