NETC Volunteers “Preserve the Travel Experience for Future Generations”

NETC Team Volunteers with Tourism Cares to preserve the educational travel experience

On May 6^th, five volunteers from the NETC team spent their day helping to renovate and preserve Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT. NETC’s Patricia Kearney, Denise Rico, Melissa Moylan, Vanessa Williams and Avery Ellsworth joined more than 400 hundred volunteers from across the country to help restore and prepare Mystic Seaport for the tourist season this spring and summer. The volunteers were divided into teams and completed tasks such as restoring and painting historic buildings, sailing vessels and a mile length of fence, as well as completing major landscaping projects on the grounds.

The volunteers accomplished the equivalent of one year of work in just a few hours and saved Mystic Seaport over $60,000 in labor costs.

The NETC Team volunteered through Tourism Cares, a Canton, MA-based non-profit organization whose mission is to “preserve the travel experience for future generations.” To learn more about Tourism Cares, visit them on the web at www.tourismcares.org.
