La Aventura en España - Day Two

NETC student travelers in Granada, Spain

With an early wake up call, we met in the hotel restaurant for breakfast around 7 in order to leave on time for Granada on Tuesday, April 19th. After learning a bit about where we were going, we soon arrived at the Alhambra, an ancient Moorish palace from the 14th century. Surrounded by the lush Generalife gardens, the Alhambra was a fortress overlooking the city of Granada. The walls were tiled with bright colors, such as blues, purples, and greens. Rounded archways were around every corner, high ceilings crowned the tops of many rooms and water was either visible or audible at all times throughout the palace. Hazel then led us into the city for a traditional lunch of Salmorejo, a cold Spanish soup.

Later, we walked through the Albaicín, where we found our way through the narrow streets to a beautiful plaza with a panoramic view of the Alhambra, Sierra Nevada Mountains, and all of Granada. We began to make our way back to the hotel along the scenic route after some shopping. For dinner that night we walked along the boardwalk by the beach and found a restaurant that accommodated everybody’s gastronomic preferences. After a long walk back to the hotel, sleep came easily to all.
