Moroccan Snake Charmer - NETC Educational Travel Tours

Our morning began very early Friday, April 22nd. After a two hour bus ride to Tarifa, and a very rocky ferry ride, we arrived in Tangier, Morocco. We met our guide Joseph and he took us on a driving tour of the city where we saw the king’s palace and quite a few mosques. On our way to the restaurant for lunch, we stopped for a quick camel ride. Lunch was the typical Moroccan cuisine, a vegetable soup and couscous. Afterwards we went shopping. We were all looking forward to a big open air flea market; unfortunately it was closed due to the holiday weekend. We did go to two large stores where we were able to bargain for our purchases.

Morocco was different than what a lot of us had imagined. “It was very different from Spain, it was chaotic and overwhelming for some, but I absolutely loved it,” said Jerica. Samantha described it as an experience, “It was great to see another culture besides from Spain, but I probably wouldn’t go back to Tangier.”

After the ferry ride back across the Strait of Gibraltar, our driver Rodrigo let us stop at a viewing platform to take pictures of the water we had just crossed. Once we were on the road again, Hazel informed us about the history of Flamenco dancing to prepare us for the show, which we viewed that night. “Hazel was great!” said Ms. Páez, she kept the kids entertained and taught them a lot about the history of Spain.” The show was two hours long and absolutely amazing. The dancers were energetic and the guitar was very smooth.
