DAY 1  FLY TO PERU.  
Fly across the equator en route to Peru's bustling capital of Lima. Upon arrival, meet your NETC Tour Director and begin exploring.

DAY 2  LIMA. 
Join a local guide on a sightseeing tour of the "City of Kings." Note the colonial influence apparent throughout the city, as you see the Lima Cathedral, Plaza de Armas, the church of San Francisco, San Domingo convent, and the Presidential Palace. Later, visit the Larco Museum, with its private collection of over 45,000 pieces of craftsmanship, showcasing 4,000 years of Peruvian history.

DAY 3  CUZCO. 
This morning, fly to Cuzco, the historic capital and heart of the Inca Empire. Take in the sights of the city and surrounding areas, including the Korikancha temple, the ruins of Sacsayhuamán, and the Inca baths of Tampu Machay.  Learn more about Incan religious beliefs in Pago a la TierraPago a la Tierra
Discover ancient Incan rituals in one of the oldest traditions in the Andean World. With the help of Paqo, a wise man, participants "pay" Mother Earth for everything she provides by gathering up and offering her a package filled with earthly gifts. The goddess is whimsical and the purpose of this ritual is to please her.

DAY 4  CUZCO. 
Continue your journey along the Inca Trail with an excursion to the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo in the valley of the Urubamba. Explore the fortress of Ollantay. Named for the Inca chieftain who once ruled the area, it was the only site in the Americas to successfully withstand the Spanish invasion!  Meet with local students during your Peruvian School VisitPeruvian School Visit

DAY 5  MACHU PICCHU. 
Board a train and travel through the Sacred Valley for a full-day excursion to Peru's most famous destination, the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu. Set on a mountaintop, deep in the jungle, Machu Picchu remained unknown to the outside world until 1911. Take a walking tour of the "Sacred City" with your local guide and enjoy the spectacular views. Return to Cuzco later this evening.

DAY 6  AMAZON ECO-LODGE.  
Discover the intriguing town of Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon basin, the biodiversity capital of the world. Keep a lookout for local wildlife as you travel by motorized canoe into the jungle. Later, join your local guide for an interpretive jungle walk before getting settled for the night at your Eco-lodge.

DAY 7  AMAZON ECO-LODGE. 
This morning visit an Ox Bow lake. These jungle lakes serve as sanctuaries for a huge variety of animals, including dozens of bird species and fish. See parrots of all kinds, including the magnificent macaw.

DAY 8-9  RETURN HOME TO THE UNITED STATES. 
Journey out of the jungle and fly back to Lima.  This evening depart on an overnight flight to the United States.

DAY 8-10  NAZCA LINES. 

Travel to Nazca on day 8. On day 9, board a plane for a flight over the famous and mysterious Nazca Lines, a collection of geoglyphs believed to be created by the Nazca culture. As you fly above hundreds of lines and figures created in the land, your pilot will give a brief explanation about these lines. Enjoy lunch in Ica before heading back to Lima, where you will depart on an evening flight. Arrive back in the United States on day 10.



DAY 8-13  ECOLOGICAL RESERVE VOLUNTEER EXTENSION. 

Extend your stay in Peru by working as a volunteer on an ecological reserve. You'll research and monitor wildlife, take inventory of vegetation, and get involved in conservation and development projects. This is a five day extension. Accommodation and all meals are included.
