Paris Provence and the Riviera

DAY 1-2  FLY TO FRANCE. 
Overnight flight to Paris. Begin exploring France's answer to the "city that never sleeps".

DAY 3  DISCOVER PARIS. 
A local guide shows you the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysées, and Les Invalides. Admire Notre Dame Cathedral from the inside out. Art lovers will delight in a visit to the enormous Louvre Museum. Tonight, enjoy breathtaking views from atop the Eiffel Tower.

DAY 4  VERSAILLES-MONTMARTRE. 
Travel to Louis XIV's decadent Palace of Versailles and en route, Seize the Château!Seize the Château!
  Tour the immense Hall of Mirrors, the royal apartments and the gardens. This evening, enjoy a walking tour of Sacre Coeur and the artists' quarter of Montmartre, recognizable in many of Toulouse-Lautrec's posters.

DAY 5  TGV-AVIGNON-NIMES. 
Board the TGV for Provence. Stroll along the streets of Avignon and view the Pont St. Benezet, the 12th century bridge immortalized in a French nursery song. Later see the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct. Marvel at the Roman buildings of Nimes: the Maison Carrée ("Square House") and the awesome Roman arena, the best preserved in France.

DAY 6  PROVENCE.  
Visit the medieval fortress of Les Baux. En Garde!En Garde!
Which is mightier - the pen or the sword? You decide! Learn basic calligraphy and fencing moves to gain new insight into old-world traditions.


DAY 7  AIX-EN-PROVENCE. 
En route to Nice, visit the flowing fountains and charming locales of Aix-en-Provence. Enjoy a Painters' ProvencePainters' Provence
Make a sales pitch for a masterpiece by Cezanne, Monet or another artist whose works highlight Provencal landscapes. Understand the impact that the light and landscape had on these artists.
. In the evening, enjoy a walking tour of Vieux Nice.

DAY 8  MONACO-EZE. 
An excursion to Eze and Monaco, highlights the palace of Prince Rainier, the Casino de Monte Carlo, and the Cathedrale de Monaco, where actress/princess Grace Kelly is buried. Visit the charming perched village of Eze. Opt to follow your nose in Making ScentsMaking Scents
Distill your own aromatherapy fragrances and experience firsthand the French passion for perfume. Take your scents home as souvenirs.

DAY 9  RETURN TO THE UNITED STATES, 
or opt to extend your stay in France with adding extra days in Nice.
